Have you ever been in a relationship that you knew you were settling...However you stayed so you wouldn't be lonely???

Yes, I admit I've been there. I didn't want to be alone, so I stayed with a man who emotionally and physically abused me. Finally after one last violent incident, I realized that being alone is nothing compared to being abused. I had to learn to love myself enough not to settle for someone who treats me that way.
I did settle in my past relationship not because I knew I would be lonely but because I loved him. I wasn't strong enough to walk away even though I recognized that me loving him wasn't enough to substain and build on. Evenually enough was enough and I got tired of fighting him to love him.
